The Tabqa Dam is located in a place where the rock exits on each side of the Euphrates Valley are located less than 5 km apart. The stone-cape dam is 4.5 km long, 60 m high from the riverbed (307 m above sea level), 512 m wide in the foundation and 19 m in the ridge. Tabka hydroelectric power plant is located on the southern edge of the dam and contains eight rotary-bladed turbines. The turbines rotate at 125 RPM and they could potentially generate 103 MW each.
